Why is PAT testing your equipment important?
The Electricity at Work Regulations require that:
"As may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practical, such danger"
Regular inspection of equipment is an essential part of any preventative maintenance programme. A responsible person should be appointed to monitor the condition and maintenance of any equipment and make a judgement on the frequency of inspection. Some equipment may require a formal visual inspection every 4 weeks and combined inspection and test every 3 months. The recommended period between inspections can vary due to the use and location of the equipment used but Leicester Testing recommends that equipment is tested on an annual basis, if not recommended sooner by the IEE (Institution of Electrical Engineers) Code of Practice. Why should I have my equipment tested?
